Yes. The first three lessons, the Hand of the Day, the full archive of past hands with the coach's reasoning, the hand analyzer, and every rules guide and glossary entry are free and need no account.
How much does School of Mahjong cost?
The Club is $14.99 a month or $149 a year and can be cancelled any time. It unlocks all ten lessons, the AI coach on your own tiles, unlimited drills, unlimited hands at the table simulator, and your hand journal.
Do I need to know anything before starting?
No. The first lesson starts with the tiles themselves and assumes nothing before that. If you already play, Defend the Table in the Drill Room is built for you: real hands in progress with sets on the table, a level that climbs through eight named levels, and a placement of ten hard positions that starts you at the level your throws earn.
Does School of Mahjong reproduce the National Mah Jongg League card?
No. We teach structure, strategy and the conventions of play, and we never reproduce any year's card. You play with your own current card, and the coach reads your tiles in terms of the card's categories rather than quoting its lines.
